Update - 17 March 2020  (inclusion of specific reference to HIFI)

Further statement from the conference team on the Annual Honors Conference and the Coronavirus to update you on our stance and response concerning the COVID-19 Coronavirus.

In light of recent events regarding the Coronavirus outbreak, the conference team has been meeting regularly and closely monitoring both governments and Hanzehogeschool Groningen advice.

In order to protect the welfare of conference attendees, staff and students as well as to provide certainty and clarity, we regret to announce that the International Conference on Talent Development and Honors Education 2020 featuring CoTalent will be postponed. In addition, the planned post conference (15-17 June 2020) HIFI event, will now also be postponed. We’ve had overwhelming support and while the decision is regretful, we feel this is the only responsible decision to take given the uncertainty with this ongoing fast changing international crisis. This is a decision we don’t take lightly, especially because so many people put in hard work and submitted proposals.

We think an online version of the conference does not fit our goals, however we are looking for different outlets for the speakers and interesting proposals. We are also looking into a new dates for the conference.

We hugely appreciate your understanding and support, and will provide further updates as soon as possible here on the conference website as well as email and social media channels. Everyone involved will be contacted by us with further information next week. We will contact conference registrants to make arrangements.

Should you have any urgent enquiries, please contact us by email via info@honorsconference2020.org

Our thoughts remain with those who are affected or working on vaccines, and tests.

On behalf of the conference team

Marca Wolfensberger

Conference Chair

We would like to thank everyone who have already submitted a proposal, please note that the submission deadline has now passed. However, it is still possible for Bachelor and Master students to submit a proposal to present a poster at the conference. We encourage students to take part in this, as it is a great opportunity to share results of a project you have been working on and to gain experience with presenting at an international conference. Foster Talent at Groningen

How can honors education foster talent and how can this be researched and realized? How should teachers be equipped, so that they can help students reach their full potential? How can honors students positively contribute to solving society’s “wicked” problems? These are but a few of the urgent questions addressed at the International Conference on Talent Development and Honors Education 2020 – Featuring CoTalent, held from 10-12 June 2020 in Groningen, the Netherlands.

International Honors dialogue
Taking a worldwide interdisciplinary perspective, the conference invites honors scholars, educators and students to discuss and debate the challenges in talent development and honors in higher education. Through the conference, we aim to strengthen the international corpus of theoretical and empirical knowledge on talent development and honors education, using multiple international viewpoints and bringing together different fields, disciplines, methodologies and practices to explore and create synergies.

The conference is organized by the Research Centre Talent Development in Higher Education and Society and Hanze Honors College at Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen, the Netherlands in close cooperation with the CoTalent project group and the European Honors Council. The Conference stands in a tradition of international honors conferences that have been organized annually by different higher education institutions in the Netherlands (2012 Groningen; 2013 Rotterdam; 2014 Amsterdam; 2015 Nijmegen; 2016 Utrecht; Zwolle 2017; 2018 Leeuwarden).
